In a major development for the British monarchy, Prince Andrew and his former wife Sarah Ferguson have officially relinquished their royal titles, a decision made in consultation with King Charles III, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday.

Prince Andrew Gives Up Duke of York Title

According to The Telegraph, Prince Andrew has voluntarily given up all royal titles and honours, including his Duke of York title, citing that the “continued accusations” against him have become a distraction from the duties of the royal family.

Sarah Ferguson Also Steps Back

The announcement also confirmed that Sarah Ferguson, the prince’s former wife, will no longer use her “Duchess of York” title. She will now be referred to simply as Sarah Ferguson, marking a symbolic end to her long-held royal designation.

Reasons Behind the Decision

The move comes amid renewed public scrutiny of Prince Andrew’s alleged links to Jeffrey Epstein and new reports of meetings with Chinese official Cai Qi. Recently surfaced emails also suggest that Andrew may have maintained contact with Epstein beyond earlier admissions.
